In case anyone else comes across this thread, so far the Feedburner feed seems to be working fine without turning on "SmartCast" in Feedburner, although I've only only been using it for a couple of days. I'm still not sure if it would have a positive or negative effect on the feed if I turned SmartCast on, although I suspect that it isn't necessary if you are already using PodPress.
